CHALLENGE

A private equity backed tech-enabled 401k services provider utilizes the FIS Relius record keeping system and has developed their own in-house tech system that they manage their entire back-office through. Their proprietary platform functions as their CRM, client management, process automation, projects management, ties into accounting, and basically combines everything full-suite.

SOLUTION

Conduct a deep dive application assessment focusing on understanding the underlying custom code base to the Relius system as well as identifying potential areas of improvement. The evaluation considered the health & security of the custom code base, OSS threats and obsolescence across the codebase, modernization of the UI, backend and databases.

RESULTS

The assessment uncovered major security vulnerabilities in the codebase and made it possible to understand the adherence and interdependencies between Relius and the remaining custom codebase, qualitative and quantitative insights. This led to significant opportunities for agility improvement and a path to a more elegant architecture of the codebase with multiple migration opportunities.
