CHALLENGE

The client offered fleet management solutions including management of assets, maintenance and repair for automotive/truck fleets within Canada, US, Mexico and ANZ. It delivered B2B technology products and was struggling with significant issues around data and the quality of the client experience. The immediate concern was significant loss of market share loss and customer churn. The engineering model was offshore IT development with onshore leadership. The challenge was to develop a comprehensive baseline of risk areas in major customer and legacy applications while also assessing the quality of code development from an outsourced vendor.

SOLUTION

The team evaluated both the legacy and Java based applications. Architecture mapping was reviewed using a diagnostic tool. Multiple dimensions were assessed including robustness, security, efficiency, maintainability & changeability of the custom code base.

RESULTS

First major outcome was to provide transparency to CEO / C-Suite about code risks including areas of risk, tactical action plan and estimation of costing to address risk areas – both at the short and mid-term. Second major outcome was a fact-based assessment of the vendor agreement designed to reduce concessions and costs.
