Robust Software Implementation Plan

A major distributor in the hardware and home improvement industry had just signed a major agreement with one of the nation’s largest home improvement big box chains, to purchase a very large volume of a nail, deck, and drywall product line, year over year. However, this distributor did not have capacity using existing warehouses. The company needed to begin shipping this product in a much shorter timeframe than would be required to lease a new warehouse and begin operations.

Target company partnered with a major third-party logistics (3PL) firm that had the capacity to serve their major customer. An existing implementation of a warehouse management system (WMS) was extended to new warehouse location in order serve this customer. This required a rapid mobilization of a team to setup this site with required technology infrastructure, equipment, and connectivity to the distributor’s systems, as well as a full implementation of a major WMS solution.

Created a robust software implementation plan, which required ensuring functional requirements were established to pick, pack, and ship a high volume of product with efficiency and accuracy, to meet customer demands.  System was configured, tested, and went live in time to start shipping the product to multiple retail locations.
